What is an HTML Iframe?

Frames allow a visual HTML Browser window to be split into segments, each of which can show a different document. This can lower bandwidth use, as repeating parts of a layout can be used in one frame, while variable content is displayed in another. This comes at a significant usability cost, especially in non-visual user agents. Because of this cost, frames (excluding the iframe element) are only allowed in HTML 4.01 Frameset.

<iframe>...</iframe>
An inline frame places another HTML document in a frame. Unlike an object element, an inline frame can be the "target" frame for links defined by other elements and it can be selected by the user agent as the focus for printing, viewing its source, etc.
The content of the element is used as alternative text to be displayed if the browser does not support iframes.
First introduced by Microsoft Internet Explorer in 1997, standardized in HTML 4.0 Transitional, allowed in HTML 5.

Note: If you are using  HTML Iframe on your site its visibility is greatly reduced. If the people who find your site use a browser that is not compatible with Iframes, (this does negatively impact anyone using Internet Explorer), unfortunately that can be up to 90% of your potential target market. Even more unfortunate, you site for Google or other search engines it is completely invisible. There is no html, images or text on the pages to allow Google to actually read what the site is about and decide how to rank your site in search findings; you are missing out on any opportunity to have the site rank at the top of search results because of lack of any real optimization of the public facing pages as well as the html page structure. Your site really doesn't exist unless potential visitors can get to it via a direct link or having already known the domain path.  The lack of proper search engine optimization of the site means that you are missing 98% of the potential clients looking for similar services on the web in your local area:
